M&A-energy assets

The firm was approached to assist with a business client to hunt for assets related to energy in the SEA countries.

The business goal was defined to successfully establish business contact with the decision maker of the owner of the assets being put up for sales: the asset in this industry usually has a valuation anywhere between 50-60 million US dollars.

The insight to share and also the questions for the firm to ask is where to start to ID the assets?

In this case, the energy industry expertise of the firm played the role and has helped locate the entry point where those asset owners run their business and where they compete.

The term industry expertise contains many ingredients, and to provide details, the understanding of industry value chain is one of the keys.

In almost every industry, there must be an input and output for an organization to make sense of their business presence. Same thing, the energy industry has input and output, too. Believe it or not, our activity was like immersing a dyne in a pool of solution and see where the solution flowed, with the dyne. And in the process, the firm monitored whoever made use of that solution as input and therefore produced output

We shared the insight of how important it is to look at a business question, using methodology to break down challenging questions. Doing so, it not only helps accumulate, but also help answer challenging questions.

The assets were targets and an NDA for the stakeholders to enter into a stage to communicate and engage each other was assessed and signed.

At CYW law firm, our staffs were trained to think and respond to provide values, that is, they do not repeat and rephrase the questions being disscussed; instead, they cut the high level and challenging questions into parts and then engage each part with resources and methods which help address the questions.

CYW Law firm considers this thinking process useful not just at working environment, but also in your daily activities.
